Angelfish are a popular freshwater tropical fish that originate from South America, around the Amazon Basin. Generally Angelfish are hardy and make good aquarium inhabitants with medium to larger size tropical fish. However very small species such as neons should not be kept with Angelfish. Angelfish do best in a tropical aquarium of at least 60L, kept at 25-27°C, with a pH of 6.2-7.0 and KH of 4. Angelfish can be quite territorial towards each other and other tank inhabitants. Therefore should be kept either alone or in groups of 3 or more.
Fish that coexist with Angelfish in the aquarium include larger species of tetras, rasboras, corys, bristlenose and other community fish that thrive in a tropical environment. Angelfish are omnivores and will accept most flake foods such as Sera Vipan and pellets such as Hikari Micro Wafers, but should also have some small foods such as frozen brine shrimp or bloodworms to supplement their diet with.
